A.P, SC, ST students to get full fee reimbursement...

Andhra Pradesh government has issued orders to reimburse the entire fee for BC, SC and ST students studying self-finance courses. Currently, the state government pays only Rs 20,000 per student irrespective of the total tuition fee stipulated for various courses. The balance amount has to be borne by the students. From now, the government will reimburse Rs 26,700 for MBA/MCA courses, Rs 55,150 for M.Tech/ME, Rs 1,04,785 for M-Pharmacy, Rs 75,000 for MSc (nursing) and Rs 67,500 for Pharm-D courses. The government issued the order under pressure form BC, SC and ST associations who took to the streets demanding full reimbursement of tuition fee. The government had delayed the issue of funds by over a year citing financial constraints. As a result, thousands of students faced financial problems as college managements pressurised them to pay the balance amount. The colleges threatened that they will not be allowed to sit for the exams. Students took admissions on the assurance that the entire fee will be borne by the government. However, in 2009, the government released the entire fee for BE and BTech courses and categorised other professional courses as “self-finance courses.”
